‘Heating hot tubs faster’ was a central theme of Bowman’s ‘stand out’ presentation at SPATEX 2017.
The launch of the company’s ultra-compact EC 80 unit has provided hot tub installers with a powerful alternative heating option. No longer do they need to rely on electric heaters to get their tubs up to temperature. The EC 80 can heat hot tubs from cold in just a few hours, compared to up to 24 hours, as is the case with many electric heaters.
At SPATEX 2017, Bowman illustrated how the EC 80 can be used for both single and multi-tub installations – the latter being of significant interest to the many holiday park and leisure destination operators, for whom offering hot tubs for their visitors has become a vital part of the venues attraction.
At just 368 mm overall – including the end covers – this incredibly compact heat exchanger can handle heat loads of up to 25 kW/h, making it the perfect solution for hot tubs, spa pools and small domestic swimming pools.
Available with a choice of titanium, stainless steel or cupro-nickel tube cores, it features solvent weld connectors, for easy installation into pool pipe work, plus an integral 7mm thermostat pocket.
And, as an additional benefit, all titanium models come with a 10 year guarantee on all titanium in contact with pool water.
New ‘Universal Fit end covers for EC heat exchangers
Also at SPATEX 2017, Bowman gave an exclusive preview of a new, redesigned end cover assembly for its popular EC heat exchangers, specifically developed to simplify installation and eliminate waste material.
EC heat exchangers are currently supplied with two alternative diameter connectors, enabling them to be installed into either imperial 1.5” (48mm O/D) or metric 50mm O/D pool pipework. This means that one of the connector sizes is always surplus to requirements, resulting in two composite components - per heat exchanger - invariably being thrown away.
Bowman’s new ‘Universal Fit’ end covers eliminate the need for separate connectors as they accommodate both imperial and metric pool pipework sizes in a single unit.
At the heart of the end cover assembly is a new ‘socket union’ that has been specially designed to take both 1.5” (48mm O/D) and 50mm O/D pool pipework, making installation simpler and quicker, plus reducing material wastage.
The heat exchanger is installed into the pools pipework in exactly the same way as the current model, using solvent weld to secure the pipes in the ‘socket union’ connector. External dimensions of the heat exchangers will remain unchanged, as the new ‘Universal Fit’ units are the same length and diameter as current units.
Reaction to the new design was universally positive from all stand visitors during SPATEX and Bowman plan to introduce the new ‘Universal Fit’ end covers on a roll out basis during 2017.
